Es la ca\u00f1a<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Literally this stands for, \u201cit is the cane.\u201d Well, this doesn\u2019t make much sense at all. But if someone is la ca\u00f1a, it means that they are awesome. This is a big compliment to anyone. You want to be la ca\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ir a su bola<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If somebody decides to ir a su propia bola it means that they going to do their own thing. In Spanish, there is a slight negative connotation linked with this phrase, as if an individual is going against logic or not being considerate about others in their decision to do their own task. Think of this phrase like the child of the phrases \u201cdo your own stuff\u201d and \u201cblow someone off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me cae gordo<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have just started learning Spanish you might realize that gordo means fat but this Spanish phrase is not used for calling someone fat. Me cae gordo means that you do not like someone or they rub you the improper way. You normally use this phrase when it is a first impression or a gut feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qu\u00e9 chulo<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anything is chulo if it is cool, hip, groovy or rad. Unlike es la ca\u00f1a, this one is usually, used to describe items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ser la leche<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ser la leche means both being really amazing or being awful. It could seem bizarre that the exact same phrase can mean completely two opposite things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Really, leche is used for all kinds of things. Mala leche (bad milk) can be used when someone has bad fortune as well as a bad mood. You can even use \u00a1Leche! as an exclamation when you are angry or surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qu\u00e9 fuerte<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You probably think of this phrase and think of Captain America and the Hulk. Fuerte in English means \u201cstrong.\u201d In this case, fuerte is a way of displaying surprise, awe or shock. Basically, the phrase means, \u201cWow!\u201d and can be both positive or negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
