Learning Spanish is about a lot more than memorizing vocabulary.
Spanish food is known worldwide: tapas, Serrano ham, paella… But, do you know any Spanish drinks?
Spanish wine is internationally known. Spain produces red wine, white wine, and rosé wine. Each Spanish region has a typical wine. The best-known wines are Rioja wines, made in the autonomous community of La Rioja. The expression “to go for wine” means you meet your friends or family to have a few glasses of wine.
Do you know what sangria is? Sangria is made with wine, but also with fruit juice, liquor, soda, and a lot of sugar. It’s a well-known drink among tourists, but the Spanish don’t really drink much sangria on a daily basis.
But not all popular drinks in Spain have alcohol…
Horchata is a refreshing drink made with tiger nuts, water, and sugar. The tiger nut is a tuber, it grows underground, and is similar to hazelnuts. The origin of the horchata is in Valencia and it is drunk especially in spring and summer.
Do you like coffee? Then you have to try the bombón coffee! The bombón coffee is made with espresso coffee and condensed milk. It is served in a small glass. It is a very sweet coffee!
With or without alcohol, Spain has many types of drinks to quench your thirst! Health!
